Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni Unveils Azimio New Political Game Plan To Take Power Before 2027 After Raila Joined Kenya Kwanza Government

Jeremiah Kioni, the secretary general of the Jubilee Party, has insisted that Raila Odinga’s decision to join the Kenya Kwanza administration presents a strategic opportunity for the opposition alliance to fortify itself ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking in an interview with Radio 47 on Wednesday night, Kioni conveyed optimism about the future of the Azimio coalition.

Kioni emphasized that Kenyans should anticipate a younger, more cohesive, and stronger Azimio team in the coming years, one that is poised to potentially form the government by 2027 or even earlier.

“You’re going to see a younger, more vibrant, and more powerful Azimio going forward, one who will form the next government by 2027 at the latest. We’re prepared to collaborate with Gen Z,” Kioni stated.

The former Ndaragwa lawmaker highlighted the coalition’s readiness to work with the nation’s Generation Z citizens to bring about positive changes.

This generational collaboration is seen as a vital component of Azimio’s strategy to engage the youthful electorate and harness their energy and innovation.

Kioni’s remarks came shortly after Raila Odinga, the leader of the ODM party, decided to nominate his close associates for President William Ruto’s next government.

This move by Odinga has been met with mixed reactions within the Azimio alliance.

The co-principals of Azimio publicly expressed their disapproval of Odinga’s plan to form a coalition government with Kenya Kwanza, voicing strong opposition to the idea.

They argued that joining the government would be seen as a betrayal of the Generation Z citizens who had forced the government to rescind the Finance Bill and dissolve the Cabinet.

The leaders emphasized the need to honor the efforts and sacrifices made by the youth during the protests.

President Ruto’s announcement on Wednesday that he would be adding key ODM figures, including Opiyo Wandayi, Wycliffe Oparanya, Ali Hassan Joho, and John Mbadi, to his cabinet further unsettled the ODM party and the Azimio alliance.

This development has raised concerns about the future direction of the opposition coalition and its ability to maintain a unified front.

Kioni, however, remains hopeful that this period of adjustment will ultimately strengthen Azimio. By embracing a younger leadership and fostering collaboration with Gen Z, the coalition aims to rejuvenate its base and prepare for future electoral battles.

The focus on youth engagement and fresh perspectives is seen as a way to revitalize the coalition and ensure its relevance in Kenya’s evolving political landscape.

The actions and strategies of both the government and the opposition will be closely watched.

The coming years will be critical for Azimio as it seeks to rebuild, rebrand, and position itself as a formidable force capable of challenging the Kenya Kwanza administration in the next general election.

Jeremiah Kioni’s vision for a reinvigorated Azimio coalition underscores the importance of adaptability and generational collaboration in politics.

By leveraging the strengths of the younger generation and fostering unity within the alliance, Azimio hopes to emerge stronger and more competitive, ready to take on the challenges of the future and potentially form the next government by 2027.
