OPINION: Kaa mbali na vijana wewe Minor CarMurder

To a casual onlooker, the by-election in Ol Kalou may seem a simple straightforward race.

But it certainly is not. That truth is not lost on the Democracy for Citizens Party, or DCP. That is exactly why a certain old geezer, a political fossil from Ol Kalou, has been told to dig up old tricks to block the DCP’s opponent from his bag of dirty tricks.

That old political deadbeat is none other than Minor CarMurder. The numbers on the ground in Ol Kalou right now show that the ruling party’s candidate already has a very big lead and is heading for a clear victory.

That alone explains why the people DCP assigned to run the campaign in Ol Kalou have suddenly turned to hate speech.

Panic has now gripped the supporters of the political group led by a bitter loser whose anger over being removed as deputy president has made him go totally bananas.

Meanwhile, the old Minor CarMurder, a perennial survivor who treats politics as his cash crop, has been sent to Ol Kalou with a plan to poison the well.

His way is as crude as it is predictable. He has been given the job of gathering groups of Ol Kalou youth, paying them with cash, and unleashing them to cause chaos on the helpless residents of Ol Kalou constituency.

Clearly, this is no real strategy at all. This is just the reflex of a decaying political outfit.

The old relic sees himself as a kingmaker, and a behind-the-curtain puppeteer whose soft whispers can still rattle the state.

In truth, he is a hollow-eyed old hireling with no further use in Kenya’s political scene. To see him rush around Ol Kalou town, leading his paid thugs, is to watch the desperate last gasp of a spent, fading political force that cannot even imagine life without violence.

Even worse is the role Minor CarMurder has taken as the political coach to the people like Wanjiku Muhia, the sitting MP for Kipipiri and the DCP candidate in the upcoming by-election.

Under the guidance of this so-called fixer, Wanjiku has dropped all pretence of even proper democratic behaviour and started issuing vile threats against DCP’s rival.

The words may sound like hers, but the tone is very clearly that of her backroom master coach.

A free and peaceful vote in Ol Kalou will within days bury DCP’s myth of a big groundswell.

It will show the party as a group of bitter gang that is losing its hold on ordinary voters. With that in mind, CarMurder and his hate-spewing group seem set to disrupt the very smooth campaign of UDA’s Muchina Nyaga, whose popularity is rising by the day.

The voters of Ol Kalou hold the answer in their own hands. They just need to come out in large numbers, vote without fear, bravely, and send this very smelly brand of politics to the museum where it belongs.

Our grandpa’s bag of tricks will not work in Ol Kalou. Not this time round!

The residents are wiser than Minor CarMurder believes.

Kaa mbali!
