Disgraced MP Mark Mwenje exposed as Ruto’s mole in United Opposition

Embakasi West MP Mark Mwenje has found himself at the centre of growing political controversy as sections of the opposition question his loyalty at a time when leaders are working to build a united front ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The debate around Mwenje has intensified in recent weeks, with some opposition figures accusing him of maintaining close links with President William Ruto’s political camp despite publicly participating in opposition activities.

The accusations have fueled heated discussions within political circles and added fresh tension to efforts aimed at strengthening opposition unity.

Mwenje rose to national prominence after winning the Embakasi West parliamentary seat on a Jubilee Party ticket in the 2022 elections. He has since remained visible in national political debates and has taken part in meetings involving leaders seeking to challenge the Kenya Kwanza administration.

His involvement in these activities initially positioned him as one of the opposition voices in Parliament.

However, doubts about his political alignment have continued to emerge from some quarters. Critics claim that information discussed during private opposition meetings has on several occasions appeared outside those circles much sooner than expected.

These suspicions grew after reports of a planned opposition statement finding its way into the public domain before its official release.

The accusations have led some of Mwenje’s critics to question whether he remains fully committed to the opposition cause. Within political gatherings and online discussions, some have openly argued that his actions have created uncertainty among leaders trying to present a united challenge to the government.

For opposition strategists, the issue goes beyond one individual. The controversy highlights the broader challenge of building trust among parties and leaders with different political histories and ambitions.

As preparations for the next election cycle gather momentum, concerns about loyalty and internal divisions continue to shape conversations behind the scenes.
