Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka Warns Raila On President William Ruto’s Dialogue Call While In Kakamega

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has sent a strong message to co-principal Raila Odinga, urging him to reject the upcoming multi-sectoral dialogue with President William Ruto and other key stakeholders.

Speaking at an event in Kakamega attended by both leaders on Saturday, Kalonzo distanced himself from the upcoming dialogue, which is set to begin Monday.

The Wiper leader contended that even if numerous dialogues were held to address pressing issues, they would produce no meaningful results.

He backed up his position by citing previous dialogues between the opposition and the government that failed to yield tangible results.

“Without a good political will, even if you have dialogue 20 times, even if you have dialogue 100 times, it will end up with nothing my brother Raila.”

He went on to say that they are not prepared for the planned multi-sectoral dialogue and urged President Ruto to address some of Gen Z’s demands.

The spirited young generation took to the streets, urging the government to restructure and implement austerity measures to promote Kenya’s prosperity.

Kalonzo also praised Kenyan youth for their role in shaping the country’s politics, as well as for their efforts to reduce the number of abductions that have occurred as protests have escalated.

“These are youthful leaders, they have decided to do away with corruption in real time. We want to say no to abduction before any dialogue.”

President William Ruto announced last week that the national dialogue would begin on Monday, July 15.

During a press briefing at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, Ruto stated that the forum will have 150 members, with 50 representing youth and 100 drawn from religious institutions, civil society, professional organizations, political parties, and other stakeholders.

The Multi-sectoral Forum, which is intended to address issues raised during recent protests, will last six days.

“We have had consultations and agreed that, to bring the country together to focus on the issues of priority, we will move ahead with the multisectoral forum,” President Ruto stated.

Similarly, the majority of youths had rejected President William Ruto’s attempt to include political players in the planned dialogue, despite the fact that Azimio leader Raila Odinga agreed to participate.
