Late one night in Rongai, an unusual incident unfolded that has since become a major talking point both in the area and online. Many residents woke up to find their phones filled with messages and clips showing a strange attempt to access a well-secured home, leaving more questions than answers about what exactly happened and why.
The CCTV footage, recorded under low light, shows a slim man approaching a tall perimeter wall surrounding a large residential compound. He appears cautious, frequently looking around as if checking whether anyone is watching.
What made the clip even more shocking to many viewers was that the man seemed to be completely naked. This detail immediately raised eyebrows and sparked intense discussion, as such behavior is not common, even in areas that occasionally report strange nighttime activities.
Despite the darkness and the height of the wall, the man managed to climb with surprising ease. His movements were fast but controlled, suggesting he had either done this before or was physically well-prepared.
For a brief moment, it looked like he might successfully make it into the compound without being noticed. The situation changed suddenly when a dog from a nearby home detected his presence.
The dog began barking loudly and running around, creating noise that cut through the quiet of the night. The intruder froze at the top of the wall, clearly unsure of what to do next.
At that point, he was stuck between two difficult choices. On one side was the compound below, where the barking dog could easily attack him. On the other side was the risk of drawing attention from residents due to the noise and movement.
For several tense seconds, the man remained still, almost as if he was thinking through his next move. Eventually, he decided not to take the risk.
He carefully climbed back down the wall and ran off into the darkness, leaving without taking anything. Many people who watched the clip later agreed that the dog likely prevented a possible break-in.
After the video spread on social media, Kenyans shared mixed opinions. Some believed the man was a thief who had chosen to remove his clothes to avoid making noise or leaving behind identifiable items. Others suggested he could have been a “night runner,” a term commonly used to describe people believed to move around naked at night for unclear reasons.
