Police arrest eight suspected gang members linked to robberies in Kasarani

Police in Kasarani Sub-County have arrested eight suspected gang members accused of terrorising residents of Mirema Springs through attacks involving crude weapons and robbery.

The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation conducted on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, targeting a criminal network believed to be behind several reported incidents in the area.

According to the National Police Service, the operation was launched after reports emerged that suspected gang members had been attacking members of the public, using crude weapons to injure and rob their victims.

Officers acted on intelligence gathered about the suspected criminal activities before apprehending the eight individuals believed to be key members of the network.

The suspects were taken to Kasarani Police Station, where they remain in custody pending their arraignment in court.

Police also recovered an assortment of crude weapons during the operation.

The items have been secured at the station as exhibits to support investigations into the reported incidents.

The arrests are part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to address gang-related crime and improve safety for residents in affected neighbourhoods.

The National Police Service reiterated its position that criminal gangs would not be allowed to operate in any part of the country, adding that targeted operations would continue against groups linked to violent attacks and robberies.

The service also credited cooperation between police officers and members of the public for helping security teams identify and pursue suspected criminal networks.

Police urged residents to remain alert and report suspicious activities or individuals to the nearest police station to support efforts to prevent crime.

The latest operation comes amid efforts by security agencies to respond to reports of criminal activity in residential areas, where residents rely on timely police intervention to protect lives and property.

The National Police Service maintained that it would sustain intelligence-led operations aimed at identifying suspects, recovering weapons and disrupting criminal networks operating within communities.
