Greg Mbanda Nyambare exposed as owner of VW Golf involved in deadly Nairobi accident

David Maina Ndung’u has brought attention to a tragic accident that occurred at Nyayo Stadium roundabout, where reckless driving claimed the life of Elsie Njeru from Embu.

The crash happened when a VW Golf GTI, registration KDG 688G, slammed into a staff van, killing her on the spot and leaving several others seriously injured. Instead of taking responsibility, the driver of the Golf abandoned his own injured passengers and fled the scene.

Eyewitnesses report that the Golf was speeding from Mombasa Road when it rammed into the van, flipping it over and causing massive destruction. The impact left the van crumpled, with victims trapped inside as bystanders rushed to help.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Golf, instead of stopping to assist, disappeared into the night, leaving behind a scene of devastation. Police investigations have since revealed disturbing details. The Golf belongs to Greg Mbanda Nyambare, a name now linked to previous reckless incidents.

Records show that the same car was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Ruaraka in May 2024, raising suspicions about whether this was yet another case of a dangerous driver escaping justice. It is also suspected that the Golf was part of an illegal street race, with witnesses claiming that a yellow Ford Mustang sped past the accident scene shortly after the crash.

What makes matters worse is that the driver, instead of surrendering, has been using intermediaries to make inquiries at Industrial Area Police Station while still evading arrest.

This has led to fears that he might be protected by influential connections, a common occurrence in similar cases where wealthy individuals or those with the right links escape accountability.

There is growing public outrage over how such reckless drivers continue to endanger lives without facing serious consequences.

The fact that this same vehicle was involved in a previous hit-and-run case only makes it clear that those responsible must be held accountable before more innocent lives are lost.

Authorities have assured the public that the search for the suspect is ongoing. However, there is a need for greater pressure to ensure he does not escape justice. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to report to the police immediately.

Reckless driving has already cost one life in this incident, and allowing the culprit to go free would send the wrong message. The law must be enforced to prevent such tragedies from happening again.
