On December 22, 2024, police in Kisumu, Kenya, arrested 78 teenagers during a house party at Mountain View Estate.
The group included 68 boys and 10 girls, all under the age of 18.
Upon arrival, they discovered nearly 100 youths at the party however, several managed to escape during the raid.
The 78 apprehended teens were taken to Obunga Police Station for questioning and were later released to their parents.
Kisumu Central Sub-County Police Commander Peter Mulai confirmed that five teenagers who had remained in custody were picked up by their relatives the following morning.
The homeowner, who is the father of one of the teenagers, claimed he was unaware of the incident as he was away at the time.
Police have contacted him for further inquiries.
Commander Mulai emphasized the importance of parental supervision, especially during the festive season, and warned that police would remain vigilant against such illegal gatherings.
