UDA MP Warn What Awaits DP Over Raging One-Man, One-Vote And One-Shilling Debate

EALA MP and close ally of the ruling UDA Party, Hon. Hassan Omar, delivered a stark warning to Deputy President Hon.

Rigathi Gachagua, cautioning him against what he described as “playing with a live wire” that could politically electrocute him if not handled carefully.

Speaking at an event in Mombasa, Omar minced no words as he criticized DP Gachagua’s support for the One-man, One-Vote, and One-Shilling debate, dismissing it as mere hearsay that won’t succeed.

Omar advised the second-in-command not to perceive certain regions of the country as more special than others.

Omar’s message emphasized the disparity between counties like Nyeri, with a million population, low poverty index, and low tax payments, and smaller counties like Kwale, with a high poverty index but substantial tax contributions.

He likened comparing these counties to comparing day and night, highlighting the need for equitable treatment.

This warning from Hassan Omar comes shortly after Kimani Ichung’wa, in an exclusive interview with KTN News, clarified that DP Gachagua’s views are personal and do not represent the stance of Mt. Kenya.

According to Ichung’wa, the people of Mt. Kenya are satisfied with their current situation and haven’t demanded more.

This statement from Ichung’wa adds another layer to the ongoing debate surrounding the One-man, One-Vote, and One-Shilling proposal, particularly concerning the perspective of the Mt. Kenya region.

The rift within the ruling UDA Party and its allies over the One-man, One-Vote, and One-Shilling proposal underscores the complexity of the issue and the differing views within the political landscape.

As the debate continues, it remains to be seen how Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other leaders navigate the political terrain amidst these conflicting opinions.
