Police have arrested three suspects believed to be linked to a violent home robbery in Chiga, Kisumu East Sub-County, days after CCTV footage of the incident spread widely on social media and sparked public concern.
The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation carried out by detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) in Nyanza together with officers from DCI Kisumu East.
Investigators said the operation was planned after reviewing evidence gathered from the robbery that took place on July 30, 2026.
According to detectives, the operation began at Kisumu Rotary College, where Reagan Otieno Silvester was arrested. Investigators believe he was among the three robbers captured on CCTV during the home invasion.
Police say he is the suspect seen leaving the victim’s house carrying a stolen 55-inch Hisense television.
After his arrest, Reagan reportedly led detectives to the Rabour area in Kadibo Sub-County, where they believed another suspect, Mohamed Ramadhan, also known as Moha, had been hiding.When officers arrived at the location, they arrested Christopher Onyango Okoth and Fidel Omondi Were.
However, Mohamed Ramadhan managed to escape after allegedly jumping over a perimeter wall before police could capture him.
Detectives later searched Mohamed Ramadhan’s rented house in Nyang’ande, where they recovered an imitation firearm resembling a pistol that had been hidden beneath a bed.
Officers also found several SIM cards during the search, which have been taken as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police also searched Reagan Otieno’s residence and recovered additional property believed to have been stolen.
Among the items found was a national identity card belonging to a victim of a robbery in which a 55-inch television and other valuables had been stolen.
Detectives believe the discovery provides an important link between the suspects and the reported crime.
The three suspects remain in police custody as they undergo processing before being presented in court. Investigators have secured all recovered items as exhibits while efforts continue to trace their rightful owners.
Meanwhile, detectives are continuing the search for Mohamed Ramadhan, who remains at large. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has urged members of the public with any information that could help locate the fugitive suspect to report it to the nearest police station as investigations continue.
