University Students To Wait Till December For Funding Model Hearing

University students who have complaints about the current university funding model will have to wait a little longer for their appeals to be heard and banding corrected as needed, according to Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos.

The CS revealed this on Tuesday when he appeared before the Parliamentary Committee on Education, emphasizing that education officials have yet to open appeals.

โ€œOn the question of appeals, we have not started working on them because we said bring them inโ€ฆyouโ€™re in school; you are not being told to go away,โ€ said Migos.

โ€œWe are going to ensure we conduct the exams so that we can do an analysis when everybody has had a chance. So, itโ€™s an ongoing exercise.โ€

He added that the complaints portal will remain open until December and that his ministry is awaiting a team to thoroughly investigate the complaints.

However, he insisted that students be allowed to continue their studies as the process progresses.

The CS later joined the Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, to witness the 129-member committee appointed by President William Ruto to review the model.

โ€œEducation matters to many, so I ask you to consult widely,โ€ Koskei said at the event.

โ€œSpeak to the education sector, but also to parents, groups, associations, lobbyists, regulators, and students. The wider your consultation, the likelier your recommendation will meet approval.โ€
