Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have made a arrest and recovered a large quantity of illicit drugs in the Kimbo area of Kiambu County.
This operation was a joint effort between the Anti-Narcotics Unit and the Operations Directorate.
The authorities are taking strong actions to combat the growing issue of illegal drugs in the country.
The first operation targeted a house in the Backstreet area, which was believed to be a hub for the illegal drug trade.
When detectives searched the house, they found a large amount of dried green plant material, rolls of cannabis, weed cookies stored in clear buckets, and other items that are typically associated with drug trafficking.
Among the items was a digital weighing scale and an electric oven used to bake the cookies.
However, the suspect who lived in the house managed to escape before the authorities could arrest them.
The DCI has launched a manhunt for this individual, and efforts to track them down are ongoing.
In a second operation, which took place in the same area, detectives raided a shop where they arrested two women.
The suspects, 38-year-old Pauline Wanjiru Njeri and 35-year-old Monica Wangare, were found in possession of several packaged rolls of cannabis sativa.
In addition to the drugs, the authorities also seized other items that were believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
The two women have been taken into police custody and are expected to face charges related to their involvement in the illegal drug trade.
The arrest of these two women and the recovery of drugs highlight a growing problem in Kiambu County.
The operation also brings attention to a troubling trend that has caught the attention of the DCI.
Authorities are warning parents and guardians about the rising risk of minors being unknowingly exposed to illicit drugs, which are being disguised as everyday snacks like cookies.
These drugs are marketed to young people in a way that makes them seem harmless, but in reality, they pose serious health risks.
The DCI is urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drugs.
This is especially important as drug traffickers continue to use deceptive methods to distribute illicit substances, often targeting vulnerable groups like minors.
The authorities are also emphasizing the need for families, schools, and communities to educate young people about the dangers of drug use.
By providing this education, they hope to help prevent young people from falling victim to these dangerous schemes.
The DCI has reaffirmed its commitment to fighting the production, distribution, and use of illegal drugs across the country.
They have promised to continue their efforts to dismantle drug networks and protect the public from the harm caused by narcotics.
The ongoing investigations and arrests are part of a larger strategy to curb drug-related crimes and ensure the safety of communities.
Through these efforts, the DCI hopes to send a strong message to drug traffickers that their activities will not go unnoticed or unpunished.
