“The Great Awakening Is Here” Okiya Omtatah Warns While Calling Against Recent Abductions

Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has cautioned that Kenyans will not be silenced by intimidation and tyranny in the wake of a new round of abductions.

This comes after two young people were allegedly abducted after uploading derogatory photographs about President William Ruto.

According to Omtatah, the abductions are the outcome of Kenyans speaking truth to power in response to countrywide injustices.

โ€œThe ongoing abductions and incommunicado detention of young Kenyans for daring to speak truth to power are both alarming and unacceptable,โ€ Omtatah wrote on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.

โ€œLet it be clear: no government, no matter how ruthless, can silence the revolutionary conscience of a people dedicated to justice and democracy.โ€

โ€œKenyans are not cowards, nor will we be silenced by fear. Our moral consciousness has overcome colonialism & tyranny in history,โ€ the senator added.

โ€œThe desire for freedom and justice is greater than any threat, and history proves that the will of the people always triumphs over oppression.โ€

Kenyans, advocacy groups, and some members of the political class have been clamoring for the release of Billy Mwangi and Peter Muteti, who were recently kidnapped after sending inflammatory tweets about Ruto.

โ€œSpeaking out against injustice is not just a right; itโ€™s a responsibility. We will not legitimize oppression by cowering, nor will we abandon the fight for a free and fair Kenya,โ€ he added.

The season of great awakening is here, and no amount of fear, bloodshed, or repression can stop a united and determined people. Let us remember that tyranny thrives on fear, but liberation is built on courage and solidarity.โ€

โ€œStand firm, speak out, and remain united. The future of our country depends on the collective resolve of its people,โ€ he added.

โ€œFor those who have been silenced by this regime, for the heroes who have lost their lives, for those who have been detained, and for those who have suffered in pursuit of justice: we fight on.โ€
