“Fitina Tupu” President William Ruto Blames Propaganda And Rumours For Finance Bill 2024 Downfall

President William Ruto believes there was no valid reason to challenge the withdrawn Finance Bill 2024.

At a roadside rally in Taita Taveta on Sunday, Ruto stated that the opposition to the bill was based on “propaganda and rumors” from a minority.

He asserted that the bill, which included challenging tax proposals, had beneficial measures aimed at enhancing the lives of Kenyans.

Ruto highlighted a specific proposal that would have provided residents of Bura and Mgange with access to water and electricity, but this initiative was halted when the bill was rejected.

“Nilikuwa nimeweka the budget lakini ikaletewa kizungumkuti ikaenda segemnege. Wengine wakapiga NO hio kitu yote ikapotea sasa imerudi niende nifanye ukarabati ingine. Unaona vile hawa watu wananitesa, wananisumbua,” said Ruto hinting at introducing a revised Bill.

“Na ni fitina tupu, ooh sijui imewekwa mambo ya cancer, sijui imewekwa nini ya mashamba na yote ni porojo na uongo lakini ya mungu ni mengi.”

The President highlighted his acceptance of the recent governmental changes, stating that these adjustments have paved the way for improved reforms in his administration.

“I have accepted that what has happened has given us a chance to build a better Kenya. The government I have created now is a government of uniting all Kenyans,” he said.

“I have created a cabinet that will bring all Kenyan communities together and it will unite us all to allow us to deal with addressing matters affecting the nation together.”

Ruto pulled back the Finance Bill following widespread public protests, as Kenyans marched to demand its rejection.

As a result, the National Assembly, during a Committee of the Whole House session on Thursday, agreed with Ruto’s objections and suggestions, voting to remove all clauses from the Bill.

None of the provisions within the Bill carry any legal weight.
