Outraged Kenyans Target Osama Otero for Hosting President Ruto on X Space

Kenyans on X have unleashed their anger on one of the platform’s most popular personalities, Kevin Monari, alias Osama Otero, after he hosted President William Ruto on his X Space.

Otero, known for his vehement opposition to President Ruto, surprised many by admitting the President and State House spokesperson Hussein Mohammed into his Space on Friday, July 5.

This move shocked his followers, who had anticipated Otero would sabotage the President’s Space as he had promised.

Otero’s actions were seen as a betrayal, especially considering his staunch anti-Ruto stance and his abduction during the Finance Bill demonstrations.

He had pledged to counter Ruto’s Space with his own, alongside fellow X personality Kimuzi.

The showdown was eagerly awaited by many Kenyans who supported Otero’s defiant stand against the government.

Leading up to the event, Otero had been vocal about his disdain for the President’s Space, urging people to join his alternative Space instead.

“Believe me, not that President Ruto’s space plus his cabinet will cost not less than 50 million.

Kila CS atasema alispend 1 million on a good laptop microphone and data,” Otero tweeted.

He further questioned, “Jamaa anatuletea goons offline then anataka kutuletea goons online?”

However, on the day of the event, Otero’s followers were taken aback when he allowed President Ruto and his team to address his Space.

This move was seen as a drastic shift from his previous hardline position against the government.

Otero’s co-host, Kimuzi, expressed his disappointment, referencing a personal connection to Beasely Kamau, who he claimed was a victim of police violence linked to Ruto’s administration.

Many other followers did not hide their anger.

Hanifa Adan tweeted a series of expletives, concluding with, “Shameless bastard!” T. R Okuna, another X personality, criticized the perceived betrayal, saying, “I am not as disappointed with the sellouts. They are weak: it’s the scoundrel’s constitution.

What I am disappointed about is that they will come back, after dancing on your graves & you will still give them an ear. And laugh with them, & they know it, & they are counting on it.”

Even Jamia Mosque weighed in, tweeting a Quranic verse: “…and that Allāh does not guide the plan of betrayers.” (Quran 12:52).

During Otero’s Space, President Ruto spoke briefly before technical issues interrupted the session.

“I want to apologize for the last hour we have not had a proper connection due to technology.

I apologize,” he said. Addressing accusations of being out of touch with reality, Ruto defended his actions, claiming he acted on credible information from relevant authorities.

“I have the benefit of more information in my hands. What I cannot do is operate on numbers that have no basis.

I said 25 Kenyans died out of protests. Some reckless people have put the numbers all the way to 100.

Others said there was a massacre in Githurai, that was not true,” Ruto explained.
