Kware Murders: Police Detain Woman Linked To Escape Of Serial Murder Suspect And 12 Others From Nairobi Station

Detectives have reportedly detained a woman for questioning related to the escape of a serial murder suspect and twelve others from the Gigiri police station in Nairobi.

This woman is suspected of being involved in the escape of Collins Jumaisi and twelve Eritrean nationals from police custody.

Authorities apprehended her in the Ruaka area of Kiambu for questioning.

After their escape, it’s believed that the group jumped over a fence behind the police station, made their way toward Limuru Road, and proceeded to Ruaka.

Footprints discovered at the fence suggest it was the exit point used by the escapees.

Sources indicate that the woman has previously been linked to human trafficking activities.

An officer familiar with the investigation expressed hope that more details will emerge as the inquiry progresses.

The investigation, being conducted by multi-agency teams, is urgently focused on recapturing the escapees.

Detectives are scrutinizing her movements and financial transactions as part of the investigation.

It has been determined that the CCTV camera behind the police station was non-operational during the incident.

Investigators have concluded that the escape was facilitated by individuals inside the police station.

This finding contradicts earlier claims by on-duty officers that the escapees used a small hole in a wire mesh to flee.

Police contend that the suspects cut the mesh to facilitate their escape.

As a result of the incident, eight police officers have been suspended and briefly detained for questioning.

Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli confirmed that among those suspended are the Gigiri Sub County Police Commander, the OCS, the Duty Officer, the Duty NCO, Station Guards, and Report Office personnel.

He added that the twelve Eritrean nationals, who were in Kenya illegally and awaiting deportation, were involved in the escape.

“Our preliminary findings suggest that the escape was orchestrated by insiders, given the deployment of officers to secure the station,” he remarked.

Masengeli also mentioned that the Internal Affairs Unit is investigating the matter, and those found responsible will face legal consequences.

A manhunt has been launched to recapture the escapees, and the public is urged to provide any information that could assist in locating Collins Jumaisi Kalusha or the other suspects via the police hotlines 999, 112, 911, and 0800 722 203.
