“We Invested In Ruto” DP Gachagua Tells Mt Kenya People Amidst Plans To Ditch UDA

On Saturday, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua dismissed reports that Mt. Kenya had withdrawn its support for President William Ruto and his administration.

Speaking at a roadside rally while accompanying the Head of State on his development tour of Kirinyaga County, Gachagua issued a warning to Mt. Kenya leaders, threatening to walk out of Kenya Kwanza due to perceived dissatisfaction.

“As a Mt. Kenya people, this is our government. We woke up early and invested in President William Ruto’s administration,” he stated.

“I want to ask leaders not to make statements that can confuse mwananchi. That kind of nonsense should be contained on WhatsApp groups.

“When you take to public podiums, you have to address Kenyans in the appropriate manner.”

Gachagua, speaking to a large crowd, reminded Mt. Kenya residents that the region overwhelmingly voted for President Ruto.

He urged locals that regional leaders, including himself, would continue to fully support the president.

President Ruto and his deputy have spent the last two days in Mt Kenya, where they have launched a number of development projects.

The two are on a charm offensive to calm a restive voting bloc that has openly expressed dissatisfaction with a government it nearly unanimously supported.

President William Ruto was in Murang’a on Friday, where he announced a slew of development projects, including the 31-kilometer Mitarakwa-Ha Paulo-Mbari Ya Hiti-Gitiri-Kianjogu-Kahithe-Gatuya Road, which will improve access to markets and factories for farm products in Mùrang’a County.

The president also inspected the construction of the Kambirwa Fresh Produce Market and launched the Last Mile Electricity Connectivity programme in Marewa.

On Friday, the duo visited Kirinyaga County to break ground on the Sagana Industrial Park and launch the Kiangungu TVET and Kang’aru Last Mile Connectivity Project.
