Police have arrested two suspects linked to the theft of two mobile phones from a member of the public in Kasarani, Nairobi
.The suspects were apprehended on Sunday during a crackdown targeting criminal activities in the Clay City, Sunton and Hunters areas.According to the National Police Service (NPS), the two men attempted to evade arrest after coming into contact with police officers conducting the operation.
Their actions prompted the officers to pursue them before eventually cornering and arresting them.โThe duo attempted to evade arrest, prompting a swift pursuit by the officers, who cornered and apprehended them,โ the NPS said.
Police later conducted a search on the suspects, leading to the recovery of the stolen mobile phones. Officers also found several crude weapons which are believed to have been used in criminal activities.
The recovery of the phones is expected to form part of the evidence linking the suspects to the reported theft. The weapons have also been taken into police custody as investigations continue.
The arrests came as officers stepped up operations in parts of Kasarani in an effort to deal with cases of theft and other criminal activities reported in the area.
Police have not provided further details on the identity of the suspects or the circumstances under which the two mobile phones were allegedly taken from the member of the public.
The two suspects remain in police custody as officers complete investigations before they are taken to court. The recovered mobile phones and crude weapons will be presented as exhibits during the legal process.
The NPS said the suspects will be arraigned once the necessary investigations and procedures have been completed.
The operation in Clay City, Sunton and Hunters is part of efforts by security officers to identify and apprehend individuals suspected of involvement in criminal activities within the Kasarani area.
Police have continued to urge members of the public to report suspected criminal activity and provide information that can assist officers in their investigations.
