Siele spotted again driving KEWASCO car despite missing report and silence from authorities

In our earlier coverage, we exposed how former KEWASCO Managing Director Erick Kibii Siele had refused to return a government vehicle after his exit from office on July 2, 2025.

Despite public outrage, Siele has once again been seen behind the wheel of the same navy blue Toyota Rav4, registration KCR 011J, now illegally fitted with private number plates.

We have now gathered new information confirming that Siele is still freely using the vehicle within Kericho County, with no action taken by relevant authorities. This latest development confirms growing fears that rules in the county are only applied when convenient and ignored when powerful individuals are involved.

Multiple witnesses continue to report sightings of Siele driving the vehicle openly in town. The car, which previously had government plates, was supposed to be returned once Siele’s tenure ended.

However, it remains under his control and is allegedly being used for personal errands. What’s even more troubling is that the car was officially reported as missing at the Kericho Police Station, yet the same police force appears to be turning a blind eye.

Just days ago, the former MD was seen in full public view, speaking casually with a man believed to be a DCI officer while the same Toyota Rav4 sat parked nearby.

This kind of behavior only adds the idea that there is no political will or moral courage left in Kericho’s leadership to deal with impunity.

Despite formal complaints lodged with the County Commissioner, the DCIO, the Government Check Unit, and police OB records, Siele continues to operate as if he is still in office.

Instead of accountability, what residents are witnessing is a deepening culture of silence, complicity, and backdoor protection.

According to a source with close ties to the local political scene, there is now growing concern that Siele might be plotting a return to power, or at the very least, trying to project continued relevance in Kericho’s water sector.

The same source described the ongoing situation as “impunity in plain sight,” and raised serious concerns about corruption within the DCI office in Kericho.

With reports suggesting that the same Rav4 was recently seen being followed by a Subaru Forester registered to the County Officer for Water, it’s no longer just about one man refusing to return a car it’s about a system that’s broken and possibly rigged.

The silence from KEWASCO itself, along with the county government, is suspicious and disturbing. Not a single official has come forward to clarify the situation or explain why a vehicle reported as missing is still being driven around town by a former official.

The lack of action and absence of consequences has left many wondering whether the county’s water agency is falling back under the control of political patronage networks.

What is happening now is not just a scandal over a stolen vehicle. It’s a clear example of how enforcement can collapse under the weight of influence and loyalty politics.

Siele’s actions, and the protection he seems to be enjoying, are a slap in the face to every honest resident of Kericho. If this level of defiance can happen openly, one can only imagine what is being done behind closed doors.
