Gang Raids Girls’ School Killing Security Guard, Steals Deputy Principal’s Car

Authorities in Kirinyaga County are actively investigating a brazen attack at Kibirigwi Girls Secondary School in Ndia, where a gang raided the compound, leaving one night guard dead.

The gang infiltrated the school through the back gate during the night, tying up three watchmen and the Deputy Principal before ransacking the offices.

They stole an unspecified amount of cash and valuables before fleeing in the Deputy Principal’s vehicle.

The night guard, Nzioka Kiatu, tragically succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to the hospital.

His body was moved to Kerugoya Mortuary for postmortem. One of the other watchmen, Michael Kimani, recounted the terrifying experience, stating that he narrowly escaped death.

The gang took their phones and fled with the vehicle, leaving the school community in shock.

Kirinyaga County Commissioner Hussein Hallosow, along with Kirinyaga Police Commander Andrew Naibei, visited the school to assess the situation.

Hallosow reassured the public that learning was continuing as normal and that investigations had been launched, though no arrests had been made at the time.

A team of detectives is actively pursuing leads to capture the perpetrators of the violent raid.

This incident highlights the increasing need for better security in schools, especially given recent trends in violent robberies and fire outbreaks across Kenya.

Authorities are urging the community to come forward with any information that could help in solving the case.
