DEVELOPING STORY: Prime Suspect In Kware Killings Has Been Arrested, Confesses To The Crime

On Monday morning, detectives announced a major breakthrough in the investigation into the gruesome killings of several individuals whose bodies were recovered from a dumpsite in Kware, Mukuru slums, Nairobi.

The prime suspect was apprehended in Kayole at his hideout as he was reportedly preparing to prey on another victim.

Officials revealed that the suspect lived about 500 meters from the Kware dumpsite, where the mutilated bodies of women had been discovered.

Upon his arrest, the suspect confessed to the serial killings, providing a crucial confession that has significantly advanced the investigation.

During a raid on the suspect’s residence, police recovered numerous items linking him to the crimes.

The haul included ten mobile phones, seven identity cards, ten SIM cards, a panga (machete), gloves, several sacks similar to those found with the bodies at the dumpsite, and ropes.

“We believe we have a key and prime suspect in the murder of people whose bodies have been found dumped in the Kware area,” stated one officer involved in the operation.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters also traced money withdrawals made from the latest victims’ accounts.

A mobile phone belonging to one of the identified victims, Josephine Owino, was recovered from the suspect. Josephine, who went missing on June 26, and another woman who disappeared on June 28, are among the confirmed victims.

Josephine’s sister reported receiving a call from a man claiming to be with her, but Josephine never returned home. Her body was later found stuffed in a sack at the dumpsite.

Speaking on Sunday, DCI head Amin detailed the condition of the bodies and the apparent pattern in the killings.

“The modus operandi was almost the same. If you look at the age, it was between 18-30. These are all female. If you look at how the bodies have been disguised and packaged – all the same,” he noted.

Amin outlined three hypotheses the investigators are considering: the involvement of a cult linked to criminal activities, the actions of a serial killer with criminal connections, or rogue medical practitioners engaging in criminal activities. “All these are hypotheses we have tried to bring on board,” he added.

The DCI boss is scheduled to hold a press conference today to provide further details on the case.

This significant arrest brings hope for justice for the victims and their families, as the nation awaits more information on the investigation’s progress.

The shocking revelations have sent ripples through the community, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced security and vigilance in the area.
