Governor Sakaja uses raw sewage in fight against Kenya Power exposing his crude leadership

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has once again found himself in controversy. This time, his government was involved in a shocking act, blocking sewer lines, which led to raw sewage spilling outside Kenya Power’s offices in Nairobi.

This move has angered many people, with critics calling it reckless and irresponsible. Instead of solving problems, Sakaja’s leadership has been creating more chaos in the city.

The dispute between Nairobi County and Kenya Power started over unpaid bills and land charges. Instead of handling the issue through legal means, Sakaja’s government reportedly chose to block Kenya Power’s sewer system.

This caused raw sewage to flood the area around Electricity House and Stima Plaza in Ngara. The situation got so bad that Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi had to step in to stop the fight. He made it clear that the charges Nairobi County was demanding were illegal under the Energy Act of 2019.

This careless act not only disrupted Kenya Power’s operations but also created a serious health hazard. Nairobi residents had to deal with the smell and risk of disease because of the sewage spill.

Many people now believe this incident shows the kind of leadership Sakaja provides one that lacks proper planning and relies on crude actions instead of real solutions.

Sakaja’s leadership has been under fire for a long time. Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has called him an embarrassment to young politicians. According to Owino, research firms have ranked Sakaja as one of the worst-performing governors in Kenya.

Nairobi has been struggling with many problems under his leadership, including uncollected garbage, broken drainage systems, and poor water supply.

One of the biggest concerns has been the rising cases of contaminated tap water in Nairobi. Reports have shown that in areas like Umoja, residents have been receiving water mixed with sewage. This is a serious public health issue, yet Sakaja’s government has done little to fix it.

Instead of dealing with these problems, the governor has been engaging in unnecessary fights that only make things worse. Even leaders from his own UDA party have criticized him. Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie and other UDA officials have accused him of running the city poorly.

They say he is more focused on personal interests than on solving the issues affecting Nairobi residents. Some leaders have defended Sakaja, saying that his critics are only attacking him for political reasons.

However, the facts on the ground tell a different story. Nairobi is in a mess, and its problems are only getting worse under Sakaja’s leadership.

The sewage incident shows that his approach to leadership is reactionary and thoughtless. Instead of coming up with proper solutions, he resorts to crude tactics that do more harm than good.
