Shock as Absa Bank’s Serah Muthui exposed for blackmail, leaking explicit images, and banking fraud

Cyprian Is Nyakundi has exposed a growing scandal at Absa Bank Kenya, revealing allegations of blackmail, misconduct, and threats involving a senior employee. What initially seemed like a private affair has now escalated into a major controversy, drawing in the bank’s management, family members, and even law enforcement.

The explosive details shared by Nyakundi paint a picture of a bank employee abusing her position for personal gain while allegedly intimidating a family into silence.

At the center of the controversy is Serah Muthui, an employee at Absa Bank’s Nyali branch, who is accused of using her position to threaten and intimidate a family over what she called “persistent interference.”

According to Nyakundi’s report, Serah has been linked to several serious allegations, including leaking confidential client information, engaging in illicit financial dealings, and interfering in a family’s private matters.

The most shocking revelation is that she allegedly threatened to release explicit images of Elias Kariku Kavwangi, a 55-year-old man she was reportedly involved with.

Nyakundi reports that a family member identified as Mwangi disclosed how Serah called one of Kavwangi’s relatives and issued threats. She allegedly warned that she had enough money and influence to silence them permanently.

She even claimed to have backing from her own family members, including a brother who is a director at the bank. These threats have left the family living in fear.

Following the escalating situation, a formal complaint was submitted to Absa Bank’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director on February 14, 2025.

The complaint, written by Elizabeth Kinyanjui, outlines the distress Serah has allegedly caused to Kavwangi’s wife and children.

Elizabeth, who is an aunt to Kavwangi’s wife, accused Serah of aggressively inserting herself into the matrimonial home in Shanzu, near Club Volume on Tsavo Stre

According to the complaint shared by Nyakundi, Serah would frequently visit Kavwangi’s home, leaving her own vehicle, KDC 004B, parked there while taking Kavwangi’s red Mitsubishi, KBJ 977Y, to go partying.

This raised concerns for the family, especially after the children expressed discomfort with her presence. More concerning, Nyakundi reports that Serah is also accused of using her position at the bank to access confidential information, including details of overseas accounts belonging to deceased clients.

It is alleged that she may have introduced Kavwangi to fraudulent dealings, possibly involving money laundering. His sudden change in behavior has raised suspicion among his relatives, who believe he may have been manipulated.

Kavwangi’s sons reportedly went through his phone and discovered explicit content linked to Serah. They also found her identification documents, which she had left behind while asking Kavwangi to assist her in acquiring a new number plate from Miritini.

These discoveries confirmed the extent of her influence over their father. Elizabeth’s letter, as highlighted in Nyakundi’s exposé, calls on Absa Bank to take immediate action against Serah.

She warns that her misconduct could not only destroy their family but also drag the bank into a major scandal. Meanwhile, social media users have started discussing the issue, with one user, Johntez Githungumi, publicly calling out Absa Bank for employing someone allegedly involved in destroying families.

Adding to the controversy, Nyakundi reports that Serah’s name has also been linked to a separate criminal case involving the murder of a middle-aged man, allegedly the result of a love triangle.

This raises further concerns about her character and the potential danger she poses to those around her.

As if the threats against the family were not enough, Nyakundi reveals that Elizabeth has received menacing calls warning her to stop pursuing the matter. In an audio recording shared with journalists, she describes how she was explicitly warned to remain silent.

Fearing for her safety, she has since filed a formal complaint and plans to report the threats to the police.

The family believes there is a coordinated effort to silence them, with Nyakundi pointing out that similar cases in the past have ended in tragedy.

They recall the murder of Oscar Owino, a bank staff member who was allegedly killed under suspicious circumstances linked to financial scandals.

With Nyakundi’s exposé gaining widespread attention, all eyes are now on the bank’s management and how they choose to handle these damning allegations.
