On social media, the president revealed that one of his most notable recent meetings was with Richard Moore, the Chief of the United Kingdom’s Foreign Intelligence Service, commonly known as MI6, alongside Neil Wigan, the British High Commissioner to Kenya.
In a tweet following the meeting, President Ruto highlighted the strong and enduring relationship between Kenya and the United Kingdom, noting that the two countries share key diplomatic, investment, and business interests, as well as a mutual commitment to defense and security.
He emphasized that both nations uphold the values of democracy, the rule of law, and peaceful conflict resolution—principles that are especially important in light of the current political climate in Kenya.
“Kenya has a strong relationship with the United Kingdom, ranging from diplomatic, investment and business to defense and security. Our two countries also share common values of democracy, the rule of law, and peaceful resolution of conflicts,” President Ruto posted on his Twitter account, showcasing the positive tone of his engagements.
The president also disclosed that their discussions during the closed-door meetings focused heavily on issues of counter-terrorism, peace, and security, particularly in the Eastern African region.
This comes at a time when Kenya, like many of its neighbors, faces ongoing security challenges from terrorist groups such as Al-Shabaab.
