MP Reveals Hatched Plot By DP Rigathi Gachagua To Sideline President William Ruto Amidst Ongoing Unrest In Kenya

Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi has claimed that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua urged Mount Kenya MPs to withdraw their support for President William Ruto and realign their political strategies ahead of the 2027 general election.

Wamumbi’s startling disclosure exposes deepening divisions within the ruling Kenya Kwanza Alliance, which is led by President Ruto and his deputy.

Speaking on Inooro TV, Wamumbi provided an insider’s view of the political intrigues and strategic decisions that have characterized Gachagua’s relationship with President Ruto since before the 2022 polls.

According to Wamumbi, DP Gachagua entered the 2022 election deal without a power-sharing agreement with President Ruto.

This lack of formal political pact has, according to the Mathira MP, influenced Gachagua’s leadership and strategic decisions.

Wamumbi recounted a confidential conversation with Gachagua, during which they discussed the politics of the Mount Kenya region and Gachagua’s relationship with President Ruto.

“I was the only person he met that day; we talked for hours, and I tried to tell him that his advisers were misleading him, just as they had misled another president,” Wamumbi disclosed.

The MP expressed his concerns about Gachagua’s leadership, particularly regarding the Gikuyu community.

“I told him that he had told the Gikuyu people that he never slept and was always watching out for them, but he was now leading them down the wrong path,” Wamumbi claimed.

Despite the absence of a formal political pact, Gachagua trusted President Ruto, Wamumbi suggested.

Following their election victory in the August general election, Gachagua outlined strategic plans to secure key positions for the Central Kenya people.

“He told us that after we won the election, he would then go to the President with a list of seats that would benefit the Central Kenya people,” Wamumbi said.

Gachagua aimed to secure nine key positions that he believed would be advantageous for the GEMA community.

However, Wamumbi urged a different approach. “I begged him that we stay in government since we already have enough seats; we should work using what we have,” he added.

Despite their disagreements, Wamumbi acknowledged Gachagua’s significant impact on his life. “He has helped me a lot in my life, but that does not mean I do not have opinions on our country’s leadership,” he remarked.

This revelation highlights the underlying tensions and strategic calculations within the Kenya Kwanza Alliance as the political landscape gears up for the 2027 polls.

As the country looks ahead, the dynamics between President Ruto, Deputy President Gachagua, and their Mount Kenya allies will undoubtedly shape the political narrative in the coming years.
