Nairobi murder suspect Collins Jumaisi still on the run as police offer Sh1 million reward

The police have intensified their search for Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, a man linked to the shocking killings of several women in Nairobi. Human remains believed to be of different victims were discovered at the Kware dumpsite, sparking fear and anger across the city.

Jumaisi, who had already been arrested and was awaiting trial, managed to escape custody in August 2024 just before he was to be arraigned in court.

His escape has left many questioning how such a dangerous suspect could slip away from authorities so easily.

The National Police Service has now announced a reward of one million shillings for any information that can help in locating and arresting him. Police say Jumaisi remains their prime suspect in what is being described as one of the most disturbing murder cases in recent years.

Investigators believe he may still be hiding within the country, and they are appealing to members of the public to come forward if they have any useful details.

According to police reports, the bodies and body parts retrieved from the dumpsite have been undergoing identification to connect them to missing persons’ cases that were reported around Nairobi.

Families of victims have been left in pain and confusion as they wait for answers. The fact that Jumaisi escaped custody has made the search for justice even more difficult. Many Kenyans have expressed concern that the victims’ families might never find closure if the suspect is not rearrested.

Authorities have provided several platforms for people to give information. Members of the public can use the toll-free hotline 0800 722 203 or send details via WhatsApp to 0709 570 000.

In addition, they can report directly to their nearest police station or call emergency hotlines 999, 911, or 112. Police stress that all information shared will be treated as valuable and confidential to protect informants.

The case has once again shown growing concerns about safety in Nairobi and the ability of the justice system to handle serious crimes. Many are questioning the loopholes that allowed a murder suspect to walk free and the risk it poses to the community.

The public is being urged to remain vigilant and to assist in any way possible so that the suspect can be brought back into custody to face the law. With a reward now on the table, police hope that someone with credible knowledge of Jumaisi’s whereabouts will step forward.

Until then, his escape remains a dark reminder of the gaps within law enforcement and the danger posed when suspects in serious crimes are not properly secured.
