Wamatangi’s dirty tactics exposed behind Kirigiti water disconnection

Residents living around Kirigiti Stadium in Kiambu County are facing growing frustration after being subjected to an unexplained and prolonged water disconnection linked to recent roadworks by the county government.

According to details exposed by Cyprian Is Nyakundi, the issue began roughly three weeks ago when the Kiambu County Government launched road construction near Kirigiti Stadium.

During the works, water pipes were reportedly damaged, resulting in a week-long water outage for nearby estates and apartments.Instead of fixing the problem and restoring water access, the county government allegedly turned against the very people affected.

Nyakundi revealed that after the water loss, the Kiambu administration bizarrely pushed the cost of the lost water to residents, demanding payment for the damage caused during the county’s own construction project.

When the residents resisted this unjustified charge, the county responded by disconnecting the water supply again this time citing non-payment.

This act has sparked outrage among locals, who accuse Governor Kimani Wamatangi’s administration of punishing residents for a mistake that originated from county negligence.

Nyakundi’s report quoted a resident asking, “What kind of barbaric reasoning is that?” Residents feel they are being collectively punished for a situation they neither caused nor contributed to. The disconnection of such a basic utility over a contested bill has been described as both abusive and irrational.

Making matters worse, Nyakundi further highlighted the deteriorating condition of the new roads. Despite being a fresh project, many sections are already in poor shape, with some even worse than before the construction began.

This raises serious concerns about the quality of work and whether due process was followed in awarding and supervising the project. The residents are now demanding accountability and urgent intervention.

They are calling on Governor Wamatangi to take full responsibility for the damaged water lines, cancel the unfair charges, restore water immediately, and commission an independent audit of the roads.

Cyprian Is Nyakundi’s exposé paints a grim picture of failed leadership, poor service delivery, and a county administration that appears more interested in shifting blame than solving real problems.

This incident is now being seen as a clear example of how county governments can misuse their power, turning routine infrastructure projects into sources of public suffering while dodging accountability.

Residents say they are tired of being ignored and mistreated and are demanding that the county puts people before excuses.
