Residents of Sohail Court apartments in Kilimani, Nairobi, are left with many unanswered questions after an attempted house break-in during the Christmas period and the later release of a key suspect by police.
The incident has shaken confidence in security systems within the estate and raised serious concerns about how such cases are handled when influence and power are alleged to be involved.
The complaint was filed by a resident who says the attempted burglary was not a random act but a well-planned operation involving people familiar with the apartment complex.
According to the account, the group allegedly included a private security guard assigned to the estate, a carpenter who frequently works within the court, a boda boda rider, and individuals linked to the property’s management.
This has caused fear among residents who now worry that those meant to protect them may instead be part of the problem.
The complainant claims that the Sky Patrol Security guard on duty at the time played a key role in the incident.
The carpenter mentioned is said to be well known within the compound, often hired for small repair jobs, which gave him easy access to the premises.
There are also claims that some workers connected to the management company were aware of the plan or directly linked to it.
What has caused even more alarm is the alleged involvement of a prominent politician, described as a relative of one of the suspects.
The complainant believes this individual used political influence to interfere with investigations and push for the case to quietly disappear.
As a result, there are accusations of a code of silence involving Kilimani Police Station, the estate management, and court officials.
A formal report was made at Kilimani Police Station, and the Sky Patrol guard was arrested at first. However, residents say he was later released under unclear circumstances following alleged political intervention.
Despite CCTV cameras reportedly capturing clear images of the suspects, including the carpenter, no further arrests have been made.
Residents also claim that the carpenter continues to move freely around the estate. Some say he openly boasts that he cannot be arrested because of his political connections, which has increased fear and frustration among those living in the apartments.
The complainant has called for an independent investigation to restore trust and ensure justice is served.
In a direct message shared as part of the complaint, the resident stated:
“Hello Cyprian. Over Christmas, there was a brazen house break-in in one of the apartments at Sohail Court along Wood Avenue, Kilimani, Nairobi. The bizarre thing about this blatant attempted theft, coordinated by a Sky Patrol Security guard, a known carpenter (who has been doing odd jobs in the court), a boda boda rider and workers of the management company, is a mysterious prominent politician, who is pulling strings at the back end to ensure that investigations die a natural death.
As a result, there has been a code of silence which has extended to Kilimani Police Station, court managers and court officials who don’t seem to be avoiding this issue.
At Kilimani Police Station, a report was made and the Sky Patrol Security guard arrested, but the ‘prominent politician’ is said to have intervened to have him released. Despite CCTV cameras showing very well the faces of the thieves, including the carpenter, the man is still posturing outside, boasting how he was not involved and cannot be arrested due to the prominent politician, who happens to be his relative.”
