Police reveal details surrounding final hours of Com Twenty One CEO in Nairobi

The sudden death of a senior technology executive in Nairobi has left family members, colleagues, and the wider business community struggling to understand what happened in his final hours.

Police say the incident occurred at a short stay apartment along Kasuku Road, where the man had checked in alone the previous evening. What followed has raised painful questions and deep sadness among those who knew him.

According to police records and an entry made in the occurrence book, the deceased was Evans Mwaura Githua, the chief executive officer of Com Twenty One Limited, an IT solutions company based in Nairobi.

Officers believe he died after jumping from the 14th floor of the building through a rear window. The incident was reported on the afternoon of December 23, when his body was found behind Alba Apartment.

Investigators say Githua, who was 51 years old, had been alone in the room at the time. Before the fall, police believe he had injured himself by cutting his veins on both hands.

When officers arrived, they found that entry into the room had to be forced because it was locked from the inside. Inside the bedsitter, there were clear signs of distress.

Blood was seen on the floor, spreading toward the washroom, bed, and wardrobe, and the room appeared disturbed.

His body was found without clothes and had several visible injuries. These included a broken right leg, a head injury, and deep cuts on both wrists that appeared to have been caused by a sharp object.

Police also noted that one of the seats had been placed in the shower area, with a towel nearby, which they said pointed to attempts to take his own life.

Several personal items were recovered from the room. These included clothes, a wallet, two mobile phones that were both on flight mode, an empty bottle of Bacardi, an empty energy drink can, a xylocaine spray, a scalpel, a fork with residue, lemon water mixed with a yellowish liquid, two tablets, and two black flasks containing liquids and a wet paste.

A bag with personal effects was also collected as part of the investigation.

The owner of the apartment told police that Githua checked in on December 22 at 8.54 pm and did not have anyone with him. Family members later informed officers that they became worried when he did not go home on Monday and both his phones were unreachable, something they said was very unusual for him.

After reviewing the scene and available evidence, police concluded that he died by suicide, first through blood loss after cutting his veins and later by jumping from the building. His body was taken to the mortuary, where an autopsy is expected to be carried out as investigations continue.

News of his death shocked many people in the business and technology sectors. Those close to him said he had not shown clear signs of stress and had recently secured major business deals.

Githua was the CEO of Com Twenty One Limited, a well-known ICT solutions and IT integration firm with its headquarters in Nairobi and branches in four major towns across the country.

The company provides services such as enterprise infrastructure solutions, surveillance and integrated security systems, technical engineering services, application servers, data storage and data center solutions, as well as cyber security.

Its clients include businesses and organizations looking to improve efficiency and productivity through technology.
