Residents across several counties have been left in shock after a string of violent deaths rocked Baringo, Kakamega, Nyamira, Kisii, Kilifi, Kiambu, and Lamu within a few days.
Police have launched investigations into the separate incidents, many of which are linked to domestic disputes, land wrangles, and mysterious attacks. In Baringo County, investigators are piecing together a disturbing case in Kolowa where a 55-year-old woman identified as Bartany Chela was brutally killed in what police suspect to be a love triangle dispute.
Her lifeless body was discovered hidden under a grass-thatched store with severe injuries and mutilation to her private parts. Preliminary reports indicate that the incident occurred after an argument with her husband over alleged infidelity.
The man, who is believed to be behind the attack, was arrested while attempting to flee the scene. Police confirmed that he remains in custody and will face court once investigations are completed.
The victim’s body was taken to the local mortuary for a postmortem examination to help establish the full extent of her injuries. In Kakamega County, another violent case unfolded in Malaika area, where a fight between two cousins ended tragically.
Police identified the victim as 33-year-old Stephene Shikundi, who was stabbed in the forehead during a heated dispute over land ownership. Shikundi was rushed to hospital but died while receiving treatment. The suspect managed to escape, and police have launched a manhunt to track him down.

Elsewhere, detectives in Kiambu County are working to identify a man whose body was found in a coffee plantation in Ngewa. The victim had multiple injuries, and investigators have yet to determine the motive behind the killing. His body was taken to the mortuary for postmortem examination. In a separate case in Lamu County, a 68-year-old British national, Wheeler Peter Spencer, was found dead in his home in Shella.
