Lugari in mourning as university student Faith Namakwangwachi killed in suspected love triangle

The people of Lugari in Kakamega County are mourning the loss of a young life that ended in the most painful way.

A fourth-year student from Alupe University in Busia County, Faith Kiliswa Namakwangwachi, was found murdered, leaving her family, friends, and the entire community in deep shock.

The incident has raised questions about safety, relationships, and the worrying rise of violence among young people.

Faith’s life was filled with promise as she pursued her studies with the hope of building a better future.

Sadly, that journey was cut short after an argument in the room she shared with her boyfriend allegedly turned deadly. Reports indicate that during the heated disagreement, the young man attacked her with a knife, stabbing her and ending her life instantly.

What began as a dispute quickly became a tragedy that has left a permanent scar on those who knew her. After committing the act, the suspect attempted to run away, hoping to avoid facing the law.

He managed to flee from Lugari but did not get far. Police tracked him down to Muhoroni, where he was arrested while allegedly trying to make his way to Nairobi.

He was later taken to Kakamega Police Station and is now awaiting further investigations. Faith’s body was moved to a local morgue where a postmortem is expected to provide more details surrounding her death.

The community has been left heartbroken, and the news has spread beyond Kakamega. Leaders and residents alike have condemned the murder, describing it as senseless and unnecessary.

Lugari Member of Parliament Hon. Nabwera Daraja Nabii expressed his outrage, thanking the police for acting quickly to catch the suspect before he disappeared.

He sent a message of comfort to Faith’s family, acknowledging the heavy burden they carry, especially since they had just buried Faith’s mother a few days before this tragedy.

He called their grief unimaginable and urged them to remain strong in the face of such painful loss.

Hon. Nabii also insisted that investigators must remain dedicated to ensuring that justice is served. He stated that the law must be followed and that Faith’s life cannot be taken in vain.

His words echoed the frustration of many who feel that intimate partner violence is becoming too common and requires urgent action.

The killing has sparked wider conversations about relationships, trust, and the need for young people to seek help when faced with conflict instead of resorting to violence.

Many in the community are calling for more awareness and stronger measures to protect students and the youth from similar situations.

Faith’s death serves as a painful reminder of how quickly things can spiral out of control and why society must come together to prevent such tragedies in the future.

At just the point in life where she was preparing to graduate and start her career, Faith’s story has now become one of sorrow and warning. Her family, friends, and community will remember her not just for how she died, but for the bright future that was taken away too soon.
