“This country does not belong to Ruto” Lawyer Miguna’s fiery message to Kenya’s youth

Lawyer Dr. Miguna Miguna has shared a message of encouragement to Kenya’s youth during a time he describes as dark and oppressive under the leadership of President William Ruto.

Speaking during a Sunday night interview on Citizen TV, Miguna did not hold back in expressing his frustration with the current regime. He said Kenya is suffering from poor leadership, but he also believes that young people are beginning to wake up and take charge of their future.

According to Miguna, the country has been taken hostage by what he called a government full of looters, liars, and tyrants. He specifically called out President Ruto, accusing him of oppressing Kenyans and using fear to control the country.

Miguna further said that the Ruto administration is silencing the opposition by using threats and money. He added that many voices of resistance are either bought off or eliminated, making it difficult for true leadership to emerge.

In his words, young people now call themselves tribe-less and leaderless, not because they lack ideas, but because revealing their real leaders would put those individuals at risk.

He claimed the state either bribes or kills anyone who tries to rise up and lead the people in a genuine way. This fear, he said, is what has pushed many youth to organize quietly and without figureheads.

Miguna also took time to criticize Raila Odinga’s political involvement, saying that it has become a well-planned distraction. He believes Raila is being used by those in power to pretend to offer solutions, while in reality, nothing changes.

He described Raila’s moves as part of a scripted performance meant to confuse the public and stop any meaningful resistance.

According to Miguna, such fake negotiations are designed to steal power from the people by calming them down without giving them real results.

Despite all the problems he outlined, Miguna ended his message on a hopeful note. He said that he believes in Kenya’s young people, especially the Gen Zs who have recently taken to the streets and social media to demand change.

He described the Gen Z movement as a powerful force that will, over time, naturally produce strong and honest leaders. Miguna sees them as the future of Kenya, free from tribalism and old political games.

Miguna’s words reflect the frustrations of many. But more importantly, they also highlight a belief that Kenya’s youth have the potential to rewrite the story of the nation. Whether or not they succeed will depend on their ability to stay united, resist corruption, and avoid the traps set by those who fear losing power. For now, the hope for a better Kenya lies in their hands.
