Outrage in Kawangware as Hussein Mohamed’s bodyguard kills civilian amid cover-up claims

A police officer attached to State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed has brutally executed an innocent man in Kawangware, and now they are trying to cover it up. This is not just another case of police misconduct, it is cold-blooded murder, and those in power are already working behind the scenes to make sure the killer walks free.

According to reports by a number of media platforms, Amos Lagat, a 35-year-old man, was shot multiple times over a mere pool game dispute, and the shooter, instead of being treated like the criminal he is, is being shielded by the system.

The officer, who was supposed to uphold the law, lost a bet in a game, got angry, and decided to end a man’s life in the most brutal way possible. Witnesses say he shot Lagat at close range, hitting his stomach and chest, even though Lagat did nothing to provoke him.

This was not self-defense. It was an execution, carried out by someone who clearly believed he could kill and get away with it. But instead of arresting him immediately, the authorities allowed him to run to Muthangari Police Station, where he cooked up a pathetic lie to justify the killing.

He claimed he had been attacked by three men who tried to steal his gun, a story that was instantly debunked when police arrived at the scene and found that he had shot Lagat multiple times.

The fact that he even had the audacity to report a fake attack shows how entitled and protected he felt. Hussein Mohamed, the man this killer works for, has remained silent. His bodyguard just murdered someone in cold blood, but he has said nothing, done nothing. Why? Because he knows how these things work.

He knows that as long as the system is on their side, this case will be buried, just like many others before it. The officer was not arrested on the spot. Instead, he was given time to go to the hospital and later handed over his firearm as if it was a simple formality.

This was not a random shooting. This was the arrogance of a man who believes he is above the law because of who he works for. The so-called investigations into this killing are a joke. We have seen this before.

A government officer’s bodyguard kills someone, the case makes headlines for a few days, then suddenly, everything goes quiet.

The officer returns to work, the family of the victim is left in pain, and life goes on as if nothing happened. Kawangware residents are already crying foul, saying there is a clear attempt to cover up this murder. And they are right. The silence from Hussein Mohamed and those in power is proof that they don’t care about justice.

They only care about protecting their own. If this case is allowed to disappear, it will be another reminder that Kenya is a country where the powerful can do whatever they want, including killing with impunity. Lagat’s family deserves justice.

The people of Kawangware deserve justice. But as long as Hussein Mohamed and his masters continue shielding their people, justice will remain a dream. The public must not allow this case to be swept under the rug.

The killer must face the full force of the law, and those protecting him must be exposed. If nothing is done, then it means any Kenyan can be shot dead by those in power, and nothing will happen.
