The NIS failure that cost Raila Odinga, Hon. Caleb Hamisi reveals

The National Intelligence Service is supposed to help Kenya protect its sovereignty and ensure the country meets its goals. However, during the African Union Commission campaign, Noordin Haji failed badly.

Hon. Caleb Hamisi has said that both Haji and Musalia Mudavadi should have resigned for misleading the nation and causing an unnecessary loss for Raila Odinga.

The campaign was built on false confidence, and Kenya was embarrassed on an international level. If the intelligence service cannot provide accurate information for such a big event, what else is it failing to do?Hon. Caleb Hamisi has been clear that Haji should not be in charge of NIS.

He believes Haji has made too many mistakes, and his failures are now too obvious to ignore. When he was the Director of Public Prosecutions, Haji was accused of making decisions based on politics instead of justice. Many cases were withdrawn, and some were seen as targeted prosecutions.

Now, in NIS, he has failed again. The AUC campaign was supposed to be well-planned, but it turned into a mess. If Haji and Mudavadi were honest, they would have told the country the truth about Raila’s chances instead of pretending that victory was guaranteed.

This kind of deception is dangerous because it makes Kenya look weak and unprepared. Francis Gaitho has also pointed out that Noordin Haji is not fit to lead NIS.

He has accused Haji of being involved in illegal activities like secret detention sites where people are held without trial. Gaitho has also questioned why Haji was in Addis Ababa during the AUC campaign instead of focusing on intelligence work.

His actions show poor leadership and misplaced priorities. When the head of intelligence is not focused on the right things, the whole system suffers.

Musalia Mudavadi, as Prime Cabinet Secretary, was also involved in the campaign. He led diplomatic efforts but failed to secure a win. Instead of being realistic, he created a false narrative that Kenya was guaranteed to win.
