Wahome Thuku warns Ruto as Gachagua’s growing influence could shake the presidency

Lawyer and political analyst Wahome Thuku has issued a stern warning to President William Ruto about his handling of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

In a Facebook post shared earlier today, Thuku highlighted the growing political influence and strategic communication skills of Gachagua, noting that the former deputy president is steadily reshaping Kenya’s political scene.

According to Thuku, Gachagua has mastered the art of countering Ruto’s attacks with forceful and calculated responses, giving him an edge in the political battlefield.

Thuku pointed out that Ruto should tread carefully when addressing Gachagua. He observed that every critical remark made by Ruto is met with even stronger and more convincing responses from Gachagua.

“President William Samoei Ruto should avoid hitting at Riggy G. For every nasty thing Ruto says, Gachagua has FIVE strong responses,” Thuku noted, emphasizing the formidable challenge Gachagua poses.

Thuku recounted attending a meeting at Chui House in Karen, where Gachagua’s charisma and strategic messaging were on full display.

The meeting, attended by a group predominantly from Western Kenya, showcased a side of Gachagua that many Kenyans are unfamiliar with.

Thuku described Gachagua as a leader capable of delivering his message with precision and sincerity, qualities that resonated deeply with the audience.

He revealed that those present openly expressed admiration for Gachagua, signaling his growing appeal beyond his traditional support base in the Mount Kenya region.

Reflecting on Gachagua’s rising stature, Thuku recalled a conversation with former Nyeri MP Wambugu Ngunjiri. He noted that Gachagua has carefully built his political image as a “truthful” leader, a strategy that is working to his advantage.

Thuku remarked that this perception of truthfulness could become a significant threat to Ruto, whose credibility may increasingly come on the spotlight.

“Many months ago, Wambugu Ngunjiri told me that Rigathi will sell his brand as TRUTHFUL MEN. It’s working perfectly. Everyone now believes everything Riggy G says about William,” Thuku observed.

Thuku also hinted at Gachagua’s next political strategy, which he described as a focus on financial liberation under the banner of “Freedom of the Payslip.”

This approach, he suggested, could directly challenge Ruto’s Affordable Housing plan, which has faced criticism for increasing financial burdens on workers.

According to Thuku, Gachagua’s message of financial relief is likely to resonate with Kenyans who are already struggling with the rising cost of living.

“Next will be the clarion on Freedom of the Payslip during campaigns. Ruto will be trying to justify Affordable Houses, Rigathi will talk about Freedom of the Payslip. It will sell like hot cakes,” Thuku confidently predicted. With this strategy, Gachagua could position himself as a champion of ordinary Kenyans, potentially outshining Ruto in the process.
