REVEALED: an exposé on vehicles used in 3 kidnappings

For the families of six young men who went missing after being kidnapped two weeks ago, the new year dawned under a veil of sadness.

Their anguish reflects the upheaval that marked the conclusion of the previous year – grief-stricken and yearning for information about their loved ones’ location.

Gerald Mwangi, the father of 24-year-old Billy Mwangi, who traveled from Embu to Nairobi on Tuesday to attend a court hearing involving Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, tells how his life has taken a tragic turn since his son went missing.

“Ile huzuni ico hapa ni kubwa…usiku tunapolala tunajikuta tunalia tu… Nilikuwa nimekuja kuchukua mtoto wangu na kujua ni nani alikuwa amewateka nyara,” he said.

Gerald burst into tears in front of Judge Bahati Mwamuye during the court session where the subject was discussed.

He admitted that he had hoped to see his son in court, but was instead confronted with further sadness.

His request, shared by the relatives of the other missing youth Gideon Kibet, Rony Kiplangat, Bernard Kavuli, Peter Muteti, and Steve Kavingo – was simple but urgent…They want their children released.

“Waaachile hao vijana ni wadogo na wanafunzi ambao bado wako shule wasamehewe kama walikosea..ata christmas hatukula..ata hatukujua ni christmas,” Mwangi appealed.

On Saturday, December 21, four guys seized Billy Mwangi from a barbershop in Embu town.

The court ordered the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to produce documents for the cars allegedly involved in the abductions.

Citizen TV has also obtained ownership information for the controversial vehicles named in the court order calling the police IG.

The first one, a station wagon with the registration number KCF 035M, belongs to Joseph Maina Mwangi.

The second vehicle is a pickup truck with the registration number KCA 379R, owned by Wario Boru Kiri.Catherine Kalaju owns the third station wagon, bearing the registration number KCG 089A.

The court has ordered the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to present the car owners when the matter is heard on January 8.
