Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has described how a Nation Media Group scholarship saved him from potentially splitting up with his wife, Pauline Musyoka.
The former Vice President explained how Pauline approached him about ending their thirteen-year courtship to study abroad.
Musyoka spoke during an interview with comedian Nasra Yusuf on Saturday, October 26.
Kalonzo revealed the message, which left him stunned and heartbroken as he recounted the previous events.
He stated that he could not bear the fact that the breakup occurred unexpectedly after thirteen years of being together with the hope of getting married.
According to the Azimio coalition principal, despite efforts to prevent the impending split, Pauline declined his overtures and insisted on parting ways with him.
“My wife knows what we went through during the thirteen years of courtship, at one point he suggested that we should break up, I said no, it cannot happen,” Kalonzo narrated.
Despite strong calls for separation, Kalonzo recalled attending a scholarship interview sponsored by the Nation Media Group.
According to the Wiper party leader, he took advantage of a rare opportunity and performed admirably, earning him the chance to study in Cyprus.
Kalonzo revealed that the scholarship changed the course of the breakup because both traveled abroad, with Pauline going to India for studies and him going to Cyprus.
After a few months apart, the couple was able to reunite and marry.
“So I went for a scholarship interview, I performed very well and I was given a scholarship sponsored by the Nation Media Group and Rotary Club of Nairobi,” Kalonzo narrated.
“She was shocked after I won the scholarship so we both travelled abroad, she went to India and I went to Cyprus.”
Meanwhile, during the interview, Kalonzo Musyoka addressed allegations that the Azimio coalition was scuttled after some Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) politicians joined President William Ruto’s cabinet.
Despite the fact that four ODM party members accepted individual cabinet secretary positions in Ruto’s administration, Kalonzo maintained that the opposition coalition remained strong.
“The fact that we disagreed with Raila does not mean that is the end of the Azimio coalition,” Kalonzo clarified.
“The coalition is based on fundamental issues and unless we sit and make a resolution to wind it up, it is still a coalition. Azimio la Umoja is still intact legally.”
“Raila made it clear that they are in opposition, so, now what waits to be seen is to demonstrate their presence in the opposition,” the Wiper leader added.
