Kenyans want police commander Adamson Bungei arrested over land grabbing

Kenyans have taken to social media to call for the immediate sacking and and subsequent arrest of Nairobi police commander Adamson Bungei over cases of land grabbing in Nairobi.

Through a trending hashtag #BungeiMustGo, the agitated Kenyans explained several cases where Mr. Bungei had been involved in land grabbing cases and now want him removed and arrested.

Trending on the same day that Deputy Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli appeared in court to seek forgiveness after being jailed for six months, Kenyans argued that they want Bungei to also be arraigned in court for abusing his office which is an offense and also engaging in land grabbing, which is another offence.

According to posts in the online push, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah first raised the alarm on errant elements within the police service who are using their office to engage in illegalities that are benefiting them at the expense of ordinary Kenyans.

Mr. Ichung’wah had noted that there were rogue elements at the very top of our police brass who are using their positions and powers to victimize and steal from Kenyans instead of serving and protecting them and their properties as should be the case. The Kikuyu MP had called for action on the police bosses going against their oaths of office.

The angry Kenyans also vowed to continue their push and flock the streets if Mr. Bungei will not be removed and arrested over his illegal activities.

The online users also highlighted cases where Lands CS Alice Wahome has complained of rogue police OCPDs who receive illegal orders from Mr. Bungei in cases where court orders related to land matters are issues.

The focus now turns to the Inspector General of the National Police Service, Mr. Douglas Kanja to clean his house and restore confidence in the sercive that has been linked to abductions, extrajudicial killings and now, land-grabbing.
