On Thursday, His Excellency President William Ruto convened a high-profile meeting at his official State House residence in Nairobi, focusing on the critical issue of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The gathering brought together key stakeholders from Kenya’s health sector, underscoring the administration’s commitment to ensuring that all Kenyans have access to free, quality health services.
“Universal Health Coverage is a key promise in our manifesto.
The programme aims at ensuring that all Kenyans access free quality health services, including for critical illnesses such as cancer,” President Ruto emphasized.

During the meeting, President Ruto outlined the government’s strategy to fund UHC through three newly established funds: the Primary Health Care Fund, the Social Health Insurance Fund, and the Emergency Chronic and Critical Illness Fund.
These funds are designed to collectively cover the costs associated with providing comprehensive health services to all Kenyans.
“Received a brief on the rollout of UHC from the Ministry of Health officials led by Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha and Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni,” President Ruto noted, indicating the detailed planning and coordination involved in implementing this ambitious programme.
The meeting was attended by several high-profile personalities from the Ministry of Health, including acting Health Director General Dr. Patrick Amoth.
