Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti And Son Under Investigation In United Kingdom For Alleged £4 Million Money Laundering Scheme

Recent reports indicate that Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti and her son, Charles Oduwale, are under investigation by British authorities after Charles was arrested in East London.

Charles, who holds dual UK-Kenyan citizenship, was reportedly attempting to deposit £4,004,915.65 (approximately Ksh 679 million) at First Commercial Bank when he was apprehended.

He struggled to justify the source of the money, claiming it was intended to build a Level 5 hospital in Machakos.

The arrest has led to heightened scrutiny of both Charles and his mother.

According to sources, the pair was also in the process of purchasing a residential apartment in Shrike Valley, a secure estate in East London.

However, British anti-fraud authorities are now investigating Charles for possible involvement in larger criminal activities, including a network linked to smuggling over £100 million from the UK to the UAE.

Governor Wavinya Ndeti has dismissed the allegations as a politically motivated smear campaign.

She asserted that these accusations were designed to discredit her leadership and distract from her ongoing development work in Machakos.

Ndeti emphasized the stringent nature of UK customs and financial institutions, urging her detractors to provide hard evidence if they believe otherwise.

Meanwhile, two Kenyan lawyers, experts in international law, have flown to the UK to represent Charles.

Their involvement was reportedly coordinated by a prominent Kenyan politician after initial attempts to resolve the issue through diplomatic channels failed.

The case is scheduled for further mention in court as investigations continue, with authorities focusing on both Charles’s financial dealings and his possible connections to international money laundering operations.

This ongoing case has also reignited concerns regarding alleged financial misconduct within the Machakos County government, where both Ndeti and Charles have been accused of involvement in questionable projects .
