Concerns have grown once more around the family of former Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai after new allegations involving his son, David Mwendwa Mutyambai, surfaced from within their own relatives.
The latest claims come from a cousin who says she has been left physically injured and emotionally shaken after a violent confrontation that she reported through WhatsApp posts which later reached a wider audience.

Her account has led to renewed attention on behaviour within a family long linked to high-level policing in Kenya.
According to people close to the family, the cousin is known as Lucy Kyalo. She says the incident left her with first- to third-degree injuries that required urgent medical treatment.
In her account, the attack was not only painful but also terrifying, especially because it involved someone she once considered a close friend and brother.
She explains that the experience has left her struggling to understand how a family disagreement could escalate into something she believes was life-threatening.

In her WhatsApp posts, she wrote with strong emotion, saying that she feared for her life during the incident and now feels driven to speak out to seek justice.
She explained that the violence was so severe that she believed she might not survive.
She reflected that if she had died, the country would have been confronted with yet another troubling story connected to the Mutyambai family, adding to past controversies that have attracted public debate.
From her hospital bed, she wrote that she was in pain and filled with sorrow. She said the attack happened during Gender-Based Violence Month, which made the experience even more heartbreaking for her.
She stated that she felt ashamed to show the pictures of her injuries but insisted she would not remain silent. She also claimed that this was not the first time she had faced such treatment and that staying quiet in the past only made things worse.

These new allegations come as the younger Mutyambai continues to face public scrutiny from earlier events. In 2021, he was involved in a major road accident on the Southern Bypass in Nairobi.
The crash involved two motorcyclists and a pedestrian. Sadly, two people died and another was seriously injured. Investigations at the time indicated he had been driving under the influence of alcohol. He was released on bail and has been fighting charges of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury.
Because of these past incidents, the latest claims from his cousin have intensified the spotlight on him. The picture that emerges, according to those familiar with the family situation, is of a young man whose behaviour has raised repeated concerns, leaving relatives and the public wondering what steps will be taken next.

Images and screenshots shared by the cousin reportedly show her injuries and the treatment she received. These materials have added to the urgency of the situation, prompting questions about what actions law enforcement and oversight agencies might take.
Bodies such as the National Police Service, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, and the Gender Directorate are among those expected to examine the allegations.
