Adoyo Owidi exposes web of corruption tied to Gladys Wanga’s family business deals

Adoyo Owidi has raised serious allegations against Homa Bay Governor Gladys Atieno Nyasuna Wanga, exposing what appears to be a deep web of corruption and family-centered looting in the county.

According to the revelations, six months after Wanga took the oath of office, a company named Exxel Fortune Enterprises Limited was registered.

Shockingly, within just 12 months, the company had already conducted business worth KSh 19.92 million with both the Homa Bay County Government and the Homa Bay Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The transactions linked to this company paint a picture of greed and nepotism. The firm’s signatories, identified as Maxwel Nyasuna and Collins Okoth, are said to have withdrawn huge sums of money in cash KSh 9.74 million and KSh 12.19 million respectively.

These withdrawals, made directly and rapidly, raise concerns about the transparency of county payments and whether services were genuinely rendered. What makes this situation worse is the close family link Nyasuna is Governor Wanga’s brother, making the deal a clear case of conflict of interest and abuse of public trust.

It is alleged that part of the money was also funneled through mobile transfers, including KSh 200,000 sent to one Richard Ogindo and a staggering KSh 850,670 to Collins Okoth through two separate M-Pesa numbers he operates.

While some recipients of the cash transfers remain unnamed for protection reasons, the pattern points toward an organized scheme of financial diversion involving people close to the governor.

The use of multiple M-Pesa lines and immediate cash withdrawals suggests an attempt to erase trails of accountability, shielding the masterminds behind the transactions from scrutiny.

This scandal adds to growing public frustration over how counties, particularly Homa Bay, have turned into personal financial playgrounds for elected leaders and their families. Instead of promoting transparency and development, Governor Wanga’s administration appears to have perfected the art of enriching insiders through dubious procurement and fake tenders.

Residents who once believed in her leadership now feel betrayed, as promises of better healthcare, infrastructure, and job opportunities have been overshadowed by allegations of nepotism and looting.

Adoyo Owidi’s statement, therefore, serves as an eye-opener into how political families continue to exploit devolution for personal gain. The registration of Exxel Fortune Enterprises Limited shortly after Wanga took power is no coincidence but a well-planned operation to siphon public funds under the cover of legitimate contracts.

The misuse of office to empower siblings and close allies at the expense of taxpayers is a slap in the face of Homa Bay residents who struggle daily for basic services.

If the allegations are anything to go by, Homa Bay County’s slogan of #EndlessPotential has been turned into a mockery of endless corruption, where family members and friends thrive while the people suffer.

The story of Exxel Fortune Enterprises Limited is just a glimpse of a bigger rot within the county administration, a system built on loyalty, kinship, and greed rather than integrity and service.
