Two men are in police custody in Narok County after being linked to drug trafficking following a successful operation by security agencies.
The arrests came after officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit and the Transnational Organised Crime Unit acted on intelligence that led them to Suswa Shopping Centre, where they intercepted a vehicle suspected of ferrying illegal drugs.
The vehicle, a Nissan X-Trail with registration number KDP 353U, was stopped and searched by the officers, leading to the discovery of nine large sacks of cannabis sativa hidden inside.

The driver of the car was identified as James Nyaikondo, who was immediately arrested alongside his accomplice, Jackson Nyaikondo. Police said the duo had been under watch following reports of suspicious activities, and the tip-off gave them the breakthrough they needed to make the arrests.
The operation was described as swift and well-coordinated, leaving no chance for the suspects to escape.
According to police, the seized narcotics and the vehicle used in the transportation have been placed under custody and will serve as key exhibits as investigations continue. The two suspects are currently being held and are expected to face charges once the investigation process is completed and the file is handed over to the prosecution.
The incident adds to a series of recent operations aimed at curbing drug trafficking across the country. Authorities have been under pressure to deal with the growing menace of narcotics, which they say poses a major threat to the youth and undermines community safety.

Police noted that the arrest is part of a wider crackdown on organized criminal networks dealing in drugs, assuring the public that more operations are underway to dismantle such groups.
Members of the public have also been urged to work closely with law enforcement agencies by reporting any suspicious activity related to drug trafficking.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has provided hotlines where citizens can share information anonymously. Police emphasized that community support remains crucial in the fight against drugs, noting that intelligence from residents played a big role in the success of the Suswa operation.
For now, the two suspects will remain in custody as they await their day in court. Authorities have promised to ensure that due process is followed while reaffirming their commitment to fighting the narcotics trade.
