Betrayal in politics? Orwoba exposes Nyamu’s silence during her darkest hour of party disciplinary

Gloria Orwoba has raised concerns about the lack of support she received from fellow senator Karen Nyamu during a tense period in the UDA party.

Speaking to Obinna TV, Orwoba recalled how she once defended Nyamu when the latter faced possible disciplinary action after a confrontation with Samidoh’s wife, Edday Nderitu, in Dubai.

Despite not having a personal friendship, Orwoba felt it was necessary to step in, explaining that staying silent could have put her at risk in the future.

She said, “I saw what was happening with Nyamu, and I knew if I stayed silent when they tried to remove her, next it would be my turn.”

Orwoba emphasized that defending women in leadership should go beyond personal alliances. She expressed disappointment that Nyamu did not extend the same support when Orwoba faced a similar situation with the party’s disciplinary committee over alleged allegiance issues.

This ordeal eventually led to Orwoba’s expulsion and her replacement in the nominated senate seat.

She described the experience as a stark reminder of the challenges female politicians face in balancing loyalty, reputation, and solidarity.

The senator also revealed that she had reached out to fellow senator Cecile Mbarire in an effort to curb attacks on Nyamu, stressing that personal matters should not determine political standing.

Orwoba argued that women in leadership have a responsibility to protect one another, particularly when their professional roles are threatened. Her stance highlights the ongoing struggle for accountability and mutual support among female politicians in Kenya.

Orwoba’s comments have sparked discussions on social media, with some users applauding her commitment to speaking up for others, while others questioned the strategy of defending colleagues involved in controversial matters.

The interview sheds light on the complex dynamics within political parties, where loyalty, personal relationships, and public image often collide.

Recently confirming her divorce, Orwoba remains vocal about women’s empowerment and accountability in politics. Her experience with Nyamu underscores the broader issue of solidarity among women in leadership, showing that defending one another is not just a matter of personal loyalty but also a step toward ensuring fairness and resilience in political spaces.

Her remarks resonate with ongoing debates about the need for women in politics to support each other in navigating both professional and personal challenges while maintaining integrity and standing firm in their roles.

The situation between Orwoba and Nyamu reflects deeper questions about trust and mutual support among female leaders.

Orwoba’s decision to speak out illustrates her belief that political survival should not come at the expense of solidarity, and that women must actively uphold one another to strengthen their presence and influence in Kenya’s political landscape.
