Loreto High School Limuru has come under the spotlight after two of its teachers were placed under disciplinary hearing following allegations of sexual harassment and grooming of students.
The school has also initiated a wider safety review aimed at protecting learners from any form of misconduct.
In a letter addressed to parents, the Board of Management explained that the disciplinary process followed investigations conducted by both the school and the Teachers Service Commission.
According to the memo dated August 8, the board sat on August 6 and listened to evidence presented against the two teachers before making formal recommendations to the TSC for further action.
The management, however, did not reveal the specific details of the allegations in its communication to parents.
The matter surfaced after videos and online reports pointed to two male teachers, accusing them of engaging in inappropriate behavior with students. In one widely circulated video, a former student alleged that one of the teachers would lure his targets under the excuse of offering extra evening tuition, where he reportedly touched them inappropriately.
These revelations drew concern from parents and the alumni community, with many questioning the safety of learners within the institution.
Even as the investigations continue, the school has emphasized that its main priority remains the welfare and safety of students. In its letter, the board confirmed that it had tasked the welfare committee to review the learning environment and advise on measures to ensure misconduct is detected and acted upon early.
The board also urged parents, students, and all stakeholders to report any violations directly to the police or the relevant authorities, promising to cooperate fully in ensuring justice and accountability.
Media reports further revealed that the Loreto Limuru Alumni Association played a key role in raising the alarm.
The association is said to have presented complaints during a board meeting, with two former students accusing at least five staff members of sexual grooming.
These claims widened the scope of the matter, forcing the administration to reassure stakeholders that the Teachers Service Commission would handle the process transparently and in line with existing policies.
The school’s management confirmed that recommendations from the August 6 disciplinary hearings have already been forwarded to the TSC, which will determine the final outcome for the accused teachers.
While the case has caused shock and disappointment among parents and alumni, the institution insists that it remains committed to upholding the values of student safety and discipline that the school has long been known for.
The unfolding situation has also served as a reminder of the importance of vigilance in safeguarding learning environments and ensuring that institutions act swiftly whenever signs of misconduct arise.
