Leaked audio reveals shocking details in case of Briton who died after ATM visit in Kiambu

The death of Andrew Paul Hayward, a 58-year-old British national who collapsed and died at an ATM lobby in Kinoo, Kiambu County, on July 21, 2025, is now facing serious questions after new revelations from a woman held in custody in connection with the case.

Initially described by police as a medical incident, the situation now appears far more suspicious.

As per the reports by Nyakundi Report, a leaked audio recording from a confidential court-related conversation has revealed that the woman, believed to have been with Hayward on the night of his death, made explosive claims that could change the course of the investigation.

In the recording, the woman told unnamed intermediaries that they were staying at a Kinoo guesthouse when Hayward said he needed to withdraw money for a planned engagement between them.

They had already settled in the room when the issue of funds came up. Hayward then left, and according to her, he was accompanied by a uniformed police officer.

She didn’t clarify how or why the officer appeared at the guesthouse, but insisted that the British man left directly with the officer to get the money. She stayed behind in the room, not knowing that Hayward would never return.

A few hours later, the same police officer came back alone, looking disturbed, and told her that Hayward was dead. She says she was confused and shocked, and before she could ask questions or understand what was going on, she was taken into custody without any clear explanation or documentation.

According to her, things got even stranger after that. Instead of being taken straight to the police station, the officer drove her to a remote forested area.

She believes the officer was buying time, possibly trying to figure out how to frame the situation or create a story that would shift the blame to her.

Only after this detour was she taken in officially. Despite police claims that Hayward died after collapsing at the ATM, there has been no clear autopsy report released.

The woman in custody insists that there is video footage at the guesthouse showing the officer leaving with Hayward, which could prove her innocence and confirm her version of events.

She said in the recording that she wants justice, not only for herself but also for Hayward, who she believes became a victim of a cover-up.

Nyakundi Report adds that officials from the British High Commission were briefed about the case early on, but it’s unclear if these new claims have been shared with them or considered in the investigation.

There are demands for a thorough review of the evidence and an independent probe into what really happened on the night of July 21.
