Cooperative Bank blasted after viral video shows naked woman claiming huge cash loss

A disturbing video showing a woman walking naked near a Cooperative Bank branch has triggered public outrage and renewed scrutiny over how banks handle customer complaints.

The woman, identified as Ms. Mueni, also known as Queen of Africa, was captured in distress, claiming that a huge amount of her money was missing from her account.

While some dismissed her as mentally unstable, many Kenyans saw through the pain and demanded answers from Cooperative Bank.

According to those who witnessed the incident, Mueni was not merely shouting random words or acting irrationally. She was standing outside one of Cooperative Bank’s branches, clearly stating that her money was gone.

Her cries were emotional, and her nakedness seemed less about mental illness and more a desperate act to draw attention to what she believed was a great injustice.

It’s a form of protest no one can ignore, no matter how uncomfortable it makes the public or the bank.

Kenyans online were quick to react. Some questioned how someone could be pushed to such extremes in front of a major bank. Others wondered if she had been ignored or mistreated during earlier attempts to seek help.

Sadly, many people in this country have experienced the same thing. Money vanishes from accounts, complaints go unanswered, and victims are left helpless.

These are not isolated incidents. They are a pattern. A silent epidemic of financial losses suffered mostly by low- and middle-income earners, who do not have the power or platform to fight back.

Faced with growing pressure, Cooperative Bank released a statement saying they were aware of the video and acknowledged that the woman required medical attention.

They added that their wellness team had contacted a medical facility and were trying to locate her family.

But the timing of the statement only after the video went viral raises questions. If she hadn’t shown up naked outside the branch, would the bank have said anything?

Would they have helped her? Or would her complaints have been buried like so many others?

This incident isn’t just about one woman. It’s about a broken system where customers are routinely dismissed and treated like they don’t matter.

Banks continue to declare record profits while those who trust them with their hard-earned money are left to suffer. No clear explanation is ever given when money disappears. Internal investigations always favor the bank, and the victims are expected to accept it and move on.

Before anyone calls Mueni crazy, they should stop and think what would you do if you woke up and found your life savings gone, and the very institution that took it offered you silence instead of help?
