City lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has raised serious concerns about the conduct of the police in Kenya following the death of X influencer Albert Ojwang while in police custody.
Ojwang reportedly died at the Central Police Station in Nairobi, and this has caused a huge public outcry across the country. Many Kenyans online are now demanding answers and accountability from law enforcement agencies, especially over what really happened inside those police cells.
According to the official police statement, Ojwang died after he “sustained head injuries after hitting his head against the cell wall.” However, this explanation has been strongly rejected by many people, including Ahmednasir Abdullahi, who believes the story does not add up.
In a tweet shared on Sunday, Ahmednasir directly blamed the police, saying they are now sabotaging the same government they are meant to serve. He questioned how a healthy young man could end up dead inside a police station with the explanation being that he hit his own head on the wall.
His words were strong and direct, asking, “Why kill an innocent boy in police cells and issue a statement that ‘the suspect sustained head injuries after hitting his head against the cell wall’… how is that even possible?”
Abdullahi’s comments have brought even more attention to the growing problem of police brutality in Kenya. His remarks suggest there could be deeper problems within the police system, with some officers possibly working against the government’s efforts to build public trust.

Many Kenyans now feel that police violence is becoming more common and that those responsible are not being held accountable. There is also concern that police stations, which should be safe spaces for justice, are turning into dangerous places for ordinary citizens.
Civil rights groups have joined in and are now calling for an independent investigation into Ojwang’s death. They say this case is just one of many and that real changes must be made to stop police abuse across the country. These groups want not just answers about what happened to Ojwang but also a serious reform of the entire police service to prevent future deaths in custody.
The police inspector general Douglas Kanja has issues a presser suspending all the responsible officers in at Central police station.
Stay tuned we’re following on that and we’ll update you as soon as possible.
