Tenants expose shocking living conditions and fraud at BRIC Apartments

As per the reports shared by Cyprian Is Nyakundi, tenants of BRIC Apartments in Kilimani and Lavington are complaining about poor living conditions and dishonest practices by the landlord.

Many residents have raised concerns about the substandard quality of housing, claiming that the apartments are extremely cold due to poor insulation.

Some say their health has suffered as a result, while others have been forced to move out. However, those who choose to leave are facing another challenge getting their security deposit refunded.

Numerous tenants report that the landlord, Liu Wenfu, has been unresponsive when they ask for their money back. This has led to growing frustration among residents who feel cheated.A young mother who lived in house C091 shared her experience, saying she moved into the apartment believing it was a good place for her and her baby.

However, she quickly realized that the apartment was unbearably cold, with drafts seeping through the walls and windows.

No matter how many blankets she used, the chill remained. Her baby developed a persistent cough, and after weeks of struggling, she decided to leave.

She informed the landlord and requested a refund of her deposit, but he became evasive and eventually stopped responding to her messages. She later learned that other tenants had faced the same issue, making it clear that this was a recurring problem.

The problem at BRIC Apartments is not limited to one or two units. Other tenants have also reported similar issues with extreme cold and poor insulation. Despite repeated complaints, the management has not taken any action to address the situation.

This has left residents feeling abandoned and forced to either endure the difficult conditions or move out at their own expense. Beyond the issue of poor insulation, many former tenants are struggling to get their security deposits back.

The landlord has allegedly ignored their requests, leaving them in a frustrating situation. Some tenants have tried following up multiple times, but their messages and calls go unanswered.

The lack of accountability has made it almost impossible for them to recover their money, leading many to believe that it is a deliberate scheme to exploit tenants.

The case of BRIC Apartments is just one example of the challenges tenants face in Nairobi’s rental market. Rapid real estate development has led to cases of poor workmanship and landlords who take advantage of tenants without consequences. Many renters are forced to accept substandard living conditions because of limited options and high housing costs.

Those who choose to leave often face difficulties reclaiming their deposits, making it an expensive and stressful process. While tenants continue to demand better housing conditions and fair treatment, cases like these highlight the need for stronger enforcement of housing regulations.

Without proper oversight, landlords will continue to get away with substandard housing and unethical practices, leaving tenants with no real protection.
