Cyprian Nyakundi has yet again exposed the dark side of NCBA Bank, a company that has made a habit of mistreating employees, engaging in shady dealings, and operating with total disregard for fairness.
The latest revelation from an anonymous Loop NCBA employee only adds to the long list of wrongdoings that this bank has been involved in for years. This is not the first time NCBA has been called out, and unless serious action is taken, it certainly won’t be the last.
The whistleblower’s account of how employees are being exploited at Loop NCBA is disgusting but not surprising. Workers are promised a basic salary of Ksh 10,000 plus commissions, but they never see the commissions.

Instead, they are forced to survive on the little salary, which is not even paid on time. By the time they receive their money on the 15th of the following month, many have already been locked out of their homes due to unpaid rent.
While executives at NCBA sit comfortably, employees at the lower levels are suffering, wondering how they will afford food and transport. This kind of mistreatment is part of a larger trend at NCBA Bank.
Over the years, the institution has been accused of unethical practices, including overcharging customers, wrongful deductions, and questionable lending practices. It is a bank that thrives on deception, taking advantage of both employees and customers without consequences.
The fact that even after multiple exposes, NCBA continues to operate in the same corrupt manner shows that there is no accountability. The bank has mastered the art of silencing those who speak out, whether it is employees demanding their rightful pay or customers questioning unfair charges.
The threats from management against employees who ask about their missing commissions prove that NCBA does not care about workers’ rights. Instead of addressing the complaints, they resort to intimidation, forcing employees to either keep quiet or risk losing their jobs.
This is a clear abuse of power, and it exposes NCBA’s toxic work environment. If this is how they treat their staff, what does that say about how they handle customer finances?
NCBA has always hidden behind its powerful connections to avoid accountability. With the backing of the Kenyatta family and other wealthy figures, the bank knows it can get away with anything. Whether it is failing to pay commissions, harassing employees, or engaging in unfair banking practices, NCBA continues to operate without fear. But how long will this last?

How many more workers and customers must suffer before something is done?
It is time for regulatory bodies and labor authorities to step in and investigate NCBA. The banking sector cannot be left to operate like a cartel where only a few at the top benefit while employees and customers suffer. If NCBA cannot pay workers what they are owed, it should not be in business.
The public must also take a stand against this institution. If the bank is this dishonest with its own employees, what guarantees do customers have that their money is safe?
This is not the first scandal linked to NCBA Bank, and unless something drastic happens, it will not be the last. But one thing is clear, this bank has built its reputation on deception, and its exploitation of employees and customers will not go unnoticed. The truth is out, and NCBA must answer for its continued mistreatment of workers and unethical practices.
